Handmade Purses – Accessory Or Art?

Handmade purses combine art and function. Each one is a unique creation. A handbag that is handmade becomes a one of a kind accessory to wear proudly or display as art – or both!

When you think of it, a handmade purse is really the ultimate designer purse. It is truly a one of a kind item. These handbags are made by human hands, not a robot in a factory. This puts a real personal touch on each and every item. There is value even in the flaws because they are personally made. Isn’t it interesting how a human caused flaw can increase the value of an item, but a machine produced flaw causes an item to lose value? Its reasons such as this that make owning handmade purses more valuable. Also, because they are handmade, they have value depending on who the designer, artist, or artisan is that produced the handbag.

Some artists and designers have gone on to become quite famous. Owning an original item from them goes up in value with the popularity of the designer. Often designers are born out of necessity. What I mean by this, is creative people who want an item and either can’t find exactly what they want, or cannot afford to buy an item, make their own. Their creative juices flow and they make such beautiful items that other people admire. This grows into people asking for the “designer” to make one for them. This can snowball into a full out career!

Did you know that the famous fashion designer, Mary McFadden started out making her own clothes? It is true. Ms. McFadden said while she was working in Africa as a journalist she had to make her own clothes out of necessity. Her personal clothes and designs became so popular people literally started buying the clothes off of her back. This lead to her making clothes for other people, and a new career was born.

Art and design influences often come through strong with these custom items. Geometric lines and color can remind us of mid-century modern art, while loose flowing material and curvy lines hint at the baroque style. Needlepoint handbags can be crafted in a way that reminds us of impressionism and pointillism.

So, the next time you see a unique handbag, ask yourself, “Are those handmade purses an accessory or art?”

Chevy Truck Accessories – Tricking Out Your Chevy Truck

I learned a lot researching this article but what I learned the most is that Chevy guys are much different then Ford guys. Chevy truck owners tend to have a lot of pride when it comes to their trucks (maybe that is because so many come from Texas). Anyhow with this in mind they are very careful when choosing accessories. So with all of this in mind we have narrowed down what we feel are the top five Chevy truck accessories.

Accessory #1 – Louvered flow through tailgate. I was kind of surprised at how popular a flow through louvered tailgate really is. It seems that Chevy guys are concerned about gas mileage as much as anything? Nah I think they just like the looks of the tailgate on a Chevy. Either way this tailgate does indeed help on gas mileage.

Accessory # 2 – Putco chrome trim. I agree this simple to install addition does really help the looks of the truck. We are talking about the Putco Chrome trim accessories such as door handle trim, mirror covers latch covers and even the cool third brake addition. It literally takes minutes to add these cool chrome pieces to your truck and it does really change the appearance. Just be sure to clean everything with alcohol first before installing.

Accessory # 3 – Aggressive wheels and tires. Chevy owners are not bling oriented guys from what I see. These guys are looking for something that makes their trucks look more like a truck and less like an oversized pimped out car so generally they stick to near stock sizes most commonly being 17 inch rims. From what I see some of the popular rims include Mickey Thompson and American Racing. Tires are usually all terrain or mild mud terrains. A polar pick is the Nitto Terra Grappler or the BFGoodrich All Terrain KO. The design of the wheels is generally simple but aggressive and many times is polished aluminum instead of chrome.

Accessory # 4 – Leveling Kits. These are very popular accessories for Chevy owners. Generally they are installed to level the truck in the front to help the appearance of the wheels look the same in all the wheel wells. Just a note on front bumpers guys they can be adjusted forward to help accommodate a slightly lager tire. The biggest downfall with a Chevy truck is the small wheel wells and this limits tire size and this si where the bumper adjustment and leveling kit will help.

Accessory # 5 – Putco Chrome grills. A little different then Ford owners who lean toward the louvered look, Chevy owners ten to lead toward the chrome grills such as the Putco grill. These grills often have round holes and really add to the other chrome that these guys add to their trucks. I have to admit a Putco grill does look nice on a Chevy or GMC.

So there you have it. Those are my top 5 Chevy truck accessories I see being sold. Each person is different but based on my observations the above accessories are very popular among Chevy owners. Watch for my post coming soon on Extreme Chevy truck accessories.
